Community Development

Community Development is one of the fundamental reason of the establishment of IKONA Wildlife Management Area. IKONA with the help of investors has managed and continue to support the member villages in community development.
The main goal being improving standard of life by means of Education, Healthy, Jobs, Agriculture and continuinity of the villages. Much has been done since the establishment of IKONA including strong and trusting relationship between the village members as well as with Wildlife management Sectors like TANAPA (Tanzania National Park Authority).

Education

IKONA WMA believes education is one of the key area crucial for the growth and better standard of living of the member villages, that's why since its establishment it has invested a lot in the education sector among the member villages.
IKONA has and does the following;
01
Construction and Repair of Schools classes
02
Construction and Repair of Teachers House
03
Provide and Facilitate different education programs including Wildlife, Youth and Equality.
04
Construction of Dispensaries
05
Provide education scholarships

Health

With the construction of a Dispensary, IKONA WMA has managed to solve one of the critical issue facing rural areas. Doctor house has also been constracted near the hospital. This has enabled a 24/7 service to the community.

Before it's construction, patients were forced to travel more than 20 Kilometers to get medical assistance. Death of both Mother and Children during child birth has droped significantly.
Outbreaks can now be attended and contained faster with less fatality.

Several Doctors and Nursers have been employed, an ambulance has also been purchased. Health education to the community is now been provided regulary, which before was a very rare occasion.

Standard of Living

Wells, pumps and a proper rain water cupturing system has been implemented among member villages. This has reduced a very long and risky journey women and childred takes to fetch water in the rivers in which often meets with wild animals who seeks water as well.

This has also been done in Schools and Dispensaries as well. Together with education on using clean and distilled waters, outbreaks has been contained. The problem of shortage of water has also been resolved.

IKONA WMA stills works hand to hand with community and investors in construction of more similiar projects and maintaining the ones already build.
